stategrafToday Feeding America and the Kansas Food Bank are releasing a landmark study detailing the extent of hunger and reliance on food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. This study can be found by clicking here or on our Hunger Stats menu button at the left. The findings are based on face-to-face interviews conducted last year with hundreds of Kansans and tens of thousands of Americans. In Kansas, an estimated 198,400 — or roughly 1 in 13 people — sought food provided by a Food Bank last year, through either a food pantry, soup kitchen on shelter. Thousands came to us monthly as food ran out at the end of the month, with 40% of adult food bank clients reporting going at least one full day without eating because of lack of money for food.
