We get a lot of email here at the Food Bank that we find simultaneously heart-wrenching and heart-warming. Here is a sample of one that came today from an elementary school — just one of  the 275 schools we supply with food for hungry children through our Food4Kids program:

Dear Food Bank,

I wanted to share some information with you. We received a letter from a parent of a student we recently added to the snack pack list: “…..I lost my job and my husband just started work yesterday….we didn’t know what we
would do. This will help until the money starts coming in. You don’t know what it is like to see your child hungry and know there isn’t anything you can do. thank you so much. We really appreciate it.”

We had another family that we had on the list last year but didn’t think it was necessary this year. We learned from the older student they had been eating crackers and they were gone. They didn’t have anything else in the house to eat. Six children in the home and 5 are receiving snack packs. This gives them food over the weekend. Thanks for what you do so our kids don’t go hungry.
