Since 1995, the Kansas Food Bank has worked to address hunger in rural parts of our state with deliveries to Dodge City, Garden City and Independence. The Food Bank trucks today distribute food through a rural delivery system that brings food directly to 20 communities, where our partnering hunger-relief agencies then distribute it to the surrounding areas. In 1997, the Kansas Food Bank opened a branch warehouse facility in Independence to help serve Southeast Kansas. More than a half million pounds of food a year are distributed through the Independence facility.
