Rural Kansas Cooperatives Fighting Hunger with Land O’Lakes Foundation

In Rural Kansas, many of neighbors do not have adequate access to the food needed for their families, and many of them have to travel long distances to their nearest grocery store. The Kansas Food Bank designed programs to service neighbors with similar experiences, providing much-needed hunger relief through partner pantries, mobile distributions, and the Food 4 Kids program.

These programs would not be possible without the support of many every single year, and the Kansas Food Bank is proud to announce we have received multiple generous gifts to assist with programs and feeding neighbors in rural Kansas, thanks to Midland Marketing Cooperative, American Plains Co-op, and the Land O’Lakes Foundation.

Midland Marketing Cooperative

This year marks the sixth consecutive year that Midland Marketing Cooperative has made a contribution to the Kansas Food Bank, and their $10,000 gift was matched by Land O’Lakes Foundation. The funds will be used to support our partner agencies and mobile distributions in Midland Marketing’s service area in Rush, Graham, Rooks and Ness counties, as well as the Food 4 Kids program.

Americans Plains Co-op

The Kansas Food Bank is overjoyed to announce a new partnership with the American Plains Co-op in Great Bend. The generosity of the American Plains Co-op led to donations in the Great Bend community for many organizations, including the Kansas Food Bank, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, and Sully’s Foundation. Their gift to the Kansas Food Bank was matched by the Land O’Lakes Foundation, with the donated funds going to the Food 4 Kids program by providing weekend meals to chronically hungry children in the counties in which American Plains Coop has operations including Barton, Stafford, Russell, Pawnee, Rush and Rice Counties.

This shared commitment underscores our belief in the power of collaboration and our dedication to creating lasting impact. We are grateful for the matching funds provided by Land O’Lakes, which enable us to amplify the reach and effectiveness of our donation.”

We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity of Midland Marketing, American Plains Co-op, and the Land O’Lakes Foundation, as their efforts will provide thousands of neighbors with missing meals in our rural communities.
