Western Kansas Hub – Garden City Warehouse – Kansas Food Bank

Western Kansas Hub – Garden City Warehouse

On July 16, 2024, the Kansas Food Bank celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new warehouse in Garden City at 1204 Taylor Plaza E. The warehouse will serve the 31 westernmost counties in Kansas, increasing food distribution by 50% along with doubling the amount fresh produce being distributed through the Kansas Food Bank’s network of partner food pantries and hunger partners.

The $10 million capital campaign has supported the renovation of the facility, and will also extend to increasing the Kansas Food Bank’s partner agencies’ capacity to accommodate the increased distribution through grants to support things such as increased cooler space, additions of truck docks, and technology.

This opening was supported in large part by our partners at Sunflower Foundation, Sunderland Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation, Cargill and more below:

  • Mike Colvin Estate
  • Luther & Ardis Fry
  • Garden City Company
  • Kent & Molly Colvin
  • Golden Plains Credit Union
  • Chad Koster – Koster American Implement
  • Midway Co-op Association
  • USDA Reach & Resiliency Grant

The Kansas Food Bank staff and board members were joined by Garden City Mayor Manny Ortiz, as well as by representatives from Sunflower Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation, hunger partners like Emmaus House and Salvation Army, and many more.
