Feeding Kansas Kids Together – Kansas Food Bank

Feeding Kansas Kids Together

This year’s Food 4 Kids Match Opportunity was made possible through our amazing partners at Cargill, matching all gifts made to the Food 4 Kids program during the opportunity up to $100,000. We are overjoyed to announce that thanks to the incredible generosity of so many, we raised just over $405,000 through this year’s campaign!

These funds will provide weekend packets of food to chronically hungry children in hundreds of schools across our 85-county service area. During the school year, the Food 4 Kids program typically serves almost 6,000 children weekly in 300+ schools. The Food 4 Kids packs provide each child with a pack of easy to open, easy to eat food every Friday at no cost to the families or schools.

Food 4 Kids costs, on average, around $800,000 to operate annually, and is fully funded through individual donors from the match opportunity, businesses, and grant opportunities. We truly could not feed Kansas kids if it weren’t for the support and generosity of each and every person who contributes, and we could not be more thankful or excited to receive funding from this year’s match opportunity.

We’d also like to take a moment to recognize and thank all of the site coordinators at each school, who go above and beyond to ensure that food insecure students and their siblings have food over the weekend. These site coordinators also share with us stories they hear, from their students and families receiving the Food 4 Kids packs.
